Think Snapchat meets a map. We built DropHere, a social platform where users post snaps pinned to real-world locations. Walk around your city and discover what people are sharing at the places around you. A full-featured social experience with profiles, feeds, likes, sharing, and a live interactive map.
The Challenge
The client wanted to build a social platform fundamentally different from feed-based apps. Content would be tied to physical locations. You see what's been posted where you are, not who you follow. The challenge was building a Snapchat-style experience layered onto a performant interactive map that could handle thousands of location-pinned snaps with real-time updates, all while keeping the full social feature set (profiles, feeds, likes, messaging) feeling smooth and intuitive.
Our Solution
We designed and developed DropHere as a full-featured native mobile platform. Users create “drops”, which are photo and text snaps attached to their current GPS location. Other users browse a live map to discover nearby drops, interact with them through likes and sharing, visit user profiles, and build a social presence tied to real places. We built optimized map clustering, viewport-based queries, and geofenced push notifications to keep the experience fast and engaging.
How It Works
Drop a Snap
Take a photo, add text, and drop it at your current location. Your snap is now pinned to that spot on the map for others to find.
Explore the Map
Browse an interactive map and discover snaps people have dropped nearby. Zoom in on any area to see what's happening there.
Interact & Connect
Like, share, and engage with drops. Visit user profiles, see their confirmed drops, points, and activity stats.
Get Notified
Geofenced push notifications alert you when you're near interesting drops. The more you explore, the more you discover.

Social Architecture
Full social feature set including user registration, profiles with stats and points, follow system, activity feeds, likes, shares, and direct messaging. Built on Firebase with real-time listeners for instant updates.
Map Performance
Marker clustering, lazy loading, and viewport-based Firestore queries keep the map responsive with thousands of drops. Custom pin designs differentiate content types and highlight trending locations.
Location Intelligence
Geofenced push notifications surface relevant content as users move through the city. Background location processing and battery-optimized tracking ensure the experience works without draining the device.
